I love experimenting with makeup and trying new things. It never crossed my mind however, that airbrush makeup was available for in-home use. I thought it was something only makeup artists to celebrities used. With a Dinar compressor and airbrush anyone can get flawless looking skin. It’s easier than you think!
Dinair makes it super easy to learn the basics and beyond. There are tons of video tutorials on their website and the kit even comes with a practice color and some worksheets. Set up is really quick and easy — you’ll be ready to practice in a matter of minutes. I watched a few videos, practiced once on the practice sheet then jumped right in. I didn’t have high expectations because I figured there’d be a learning curve. I got good results on my first try though! Because it sprays a superfine mist of product, it’s pretty hard to screw up a foundation application unless you’ve got the wrong color, have your compressor turned up too high or aren’t following the guidelines for the length of space between your face and your airbrush. The kit comes with a tool that makes it really easy to stay in the correct spacing zone so that wasn’t a problem for me. There are also bands that go on your airbrush that help you control the airflow to spray it just right.
I love how easy it is to get the perfect amount of coverage. You won’t get any cake-y foundation with the airbrush — just flawless looking skin. Even the blush was easier than I thought it would be because it goes on so finely with buildable coverage. The eyes are a bit trickier and something I want to experiment with a lot more because it’s so much fun! I used a black color for eyeliner and expected it to be really heavy. It wasn’t. It was just like the foundation and blush colors — very faint at first but can be built up with multiple passes. I love how this makes it really easy to create a soft look. The metallic colors I tried were beautiful but again, nothing like I expected. They go on much more naturally with just a hint of shimmer. I didn’t try for a heavier look because I liked the subtle beauty they offered with light coverage.
Airbrush makeup is an unusual experience at first because if you are using it correctly, it dries instantly on your skin. You won’t believe how light it feels! I have uneven skin tone and blemishes so I probably require a heavier coverage than most but it’s still so light compared to other foundations it feels like I’m not wearing makeup at all! You gotta love that!
I watched the tutorial on mixing colors and can’t wait to try it. The colors I got with the kit are very similar so I didn’t mix them. The foundation colors could be mixed but the first one I tried seemed like a perfect match. Perhaps in the summer I’ll add a bit more color to mimic a tan. There’s so much you can do with this makeup kit!

It may seem like a lot of money at first but I actually think it’s a pretty good value. You won’t need sponges or brushes and the waste-free nature of the product means it will last. Very little product is needed for each application — just a few drops in most case! Plus, can you really put a price on flawless looking skin? I think not!
