We had so much fun last year at the Disney on Ice: Rockin’ Ever After show that we couldn’t wait to see what was in store this year with the Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate show. I have to say that both shows were pretty impressive. I have no idea how those ice skaters can be so graceful wearing the costumes that they do! That alone has me in awe. The shows themselves are very upbeat and entertaining.
Here’s my clan waiting for the show to begin. A few minutes before it started a few skaters came out with some boomerang type toys to keep the audience entertained and pumped up for the show. Once the show starts, it’s off with a bang! There are so many characters skating out it’s a chorus of “Mom, look! Cinderella” “Yayyyy! Pinocchio is here! and “Wow! Captain Hook too??!”
Seriously, we saw most of our favorites at some point or another. Here are Ariel, Cinderella and Belle with their Princes and Maleficient! The first half of the show was centered around holidays — a scene with Jack Skellington, a Christmas scene with Micky and the Gang and birthday celebration. The second half celebrated vacationing in different part of the world with Tiana in New Orleans and several others.
There were special effects and pyrotechnics throughout the show. Most of them were burst of surprise that I didn’t capture but I did get a few photos of some of them like this ring of fire. The show is very fast paced and full of surprises at every turn.
At one point it even snowed! You can see some of the Toy Story characters in this photo. We were very intrigued with Hammy (the pig). My kids insisted that there were real people inside of that costume but I believe it had to be some sort of remote controlled prop. Either way, it was fun to watch. As we headed back to the car after the show my youngest exclaimed “That was funner than eating ice cream!” She’s 4 and she danced and clapped all through the show so I’d definitely say it was a hit!
