DisneyNature Bears Review
We got the Disenynature Bears movie a few weeks ago but didn’t watch it right away. I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it might not keep my kids attention. Boy, was I wrong. They were riveted, as was I! The filming and the reality of the life of real bears in nature was fascinating. Bears is a story of a mama bear named Sky and her two cubs, Scout and Amber. The movie chronicles their life from the first stirring after hibernation to the trek down the mountain to hunt for food until they go back into hibernation again.
I learned from the movie that 50% of bear cubs do not survive their first year of life. I had no idea baby bears were so vulnerable! The film shows how the mother bear protects her cubs and teaches them life’s important lessons as she struggles to feed them enough to prepare for winter’s hibernation. The filming takes place in the majestic Alaskan winderness and is absolutely stunning. The up-close and intimate moments that are captured on film are truly amazing.
In addition to the film, the movie also has some bonus materials:
Blu-ray, Digital HD & DMA
- Welcome To Alaska – Journey with the filmmakers into the Alaskan wilds to film Sky and her cubs.
- The Future For The Bears – Experience the thrill of living with the bears during production, and the importance of protecting the wilderness to ensure their survival…and our own.
- A Guide To Living With Bears – Learn how the team interacts safely with these magnificent creatures.
- How Did They Film That? – Get an inside look on some of the extreme filmmaking that went into getting shots high in the mountains and under frigid cold water.
- “Carry On” Music Video By Olivia Holt
My kids, much to my surprise, have watched this movie 3 days in a row! I love that they are learning about animals in their natural habitat and that they find it as interesting as I do!
