When my kids were pretty little they had a lot of skin issues. My oldest daughter was allergic to sunscreen for awhile and my son had a strange abrasion-like rash that wouldn’t go away and stumped dermatologists. Luckily whatever it was cleared up before the biopsy appointment and never came back. Both my kids with these skin issues have fair skin and red hair. Over the years they’ve outgrown their skin issues or found a way to manage them. I try to make sure they have sensitive skin formulas for soaps, sunscreens, laundry detergents etc. to avoid any further issues.
Lately I’ve noticed that my oldest daughter’s scalp is pretty flaky. Shampoo is one thing that we haven’t been super diligent with and it appears to be affecting her scalp. I was recently introduced to Dr. Eddie’s Happy Cappy Shampoo and Body Wash and I think it’s exactly what she needs.
Dr. Eddie’s Shampoo & Body Wash was invented by a pediatrician for parents looking for gentle, soothing and safe shampoo and body wash. This product is a daily option for soothing normal and dry, itchy, irritated and sensitive skin. Atopic Dermatitis or eczema can be really hard to manage. Having the right products can go a long way towards relieving the symptoms. Happy Cappy Daily Shampoo & Body Wash is a great choice since the ingredients were carefully selected for their soothing properties. Made with oatmeal extract, licorice root extract, aloe vera, provitamin B5, and Hyaluronic Acid this moisturizing cleanser is dermatologist and clinically tested. It’s also free of skin irritants like fragrance, dye, alcohol, sulfates, phthalates and parabens. 95% of its ingredients are natural and plant based.
What’s more, Happy Cappy has a low pH that matches the pH of normal skin. This preserves the barrier function and antimicrobial activity of skin. Most soaps on the market have a pH of 9 to 10 which can negatively impact this skin so using a good cleanser is vital to those suffering with skin conditions or sensitive skin.
Dr. Eddie is the first brand to offer an over the counter shampoo and body wash with the FDA approved active ingredient, pyrithione zinc that has been proven safe and effective for relief of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. It also contains the natural ingredient Licorice Root Extract which helps soothe redness behind the ears, under armpits and in neck folds. This product is also fragrance free, dermatologist tested, dye free, alcohol free, paraben free, sulfate free and BPA free.
You can eliminate flakes in as little as one to two washes will still leaving the skin and hair soft and smooth. For more severe scale build up, you may need to use this producing daily for 3-7 days or longer. After the scaling is under control you can taper off use to 2-3 times per week to control build it. Use it in conjunction with the daily cleanser.
I’ve got skin issues of my own and while this product is targeted towards children, it works just as well for adults! I have a really greasy scalp. It’s hard for me to find a cleanser that leaves my hair clean without stripping my scalp and making it itchy. I was surprised that both products lather well, rinse clean and leave skin and hair feeling soft. My dermatologist actually just recommended that I use a product with pyrithione zinc. I’ve been using a bar soap with good results but I’m excited to have a body wash option as well!
I’m confident that this product will clear up my daughter’s flaky scalp as well. She only washes her hair 1-2 times per week per the pediatrician’s advice so hasn’t used this product yet but she will with her next hair washing! She’ll be flake-free in no time!
