One of the things my husband and I always wished we had with our current GPS is that we were able to receive real-time traffic information.  It gets so frustrating hitting traffic when we could have avoided it altogether.  “Research shows that the addition of real-time traffic can reduce a driver’s time on the road an average of 17% over using ga navigation device without traffic services.” (info. via the Insignia box)  We were able to try an Insignia Internet-connected GPS Device for review.

The Good:
The Insignia Internet-connected GPS Device comes with three months of data service.  You may purchase service after this.  As few as three days of service can be purchased for $4.99 or as much as 12 months of service for $99, with various increments in between.  Our current GPS takes FOREVER to find a signal and sometimes won’t load at all and we have to refresh to find our destination over and over.  The Insignia Internet-connected GPS Device never gave us this issue and led us right to our destination.  The price is also very reasonable.

The Bad:
The downside for me?  It could be another data subscription to pay for.  We are blessed with Smartphones and do not need the data subscription.  If you do not have a Smartphone or internet-abled phones, this would be great to have.  I also personally do not want to send a Tweet out everytime I go somewhere, but this is not always necessary.  The device did take awhile for it to boot as well.

Holly’s notes:  This GPS Device is also Bluetooth enabled which is a big bonus for my hubby and myself since a new law has just been instated in our state making it illegal to take on a phone without a hands free device.
