It’s allllivvve! Frankenweenie has just hit store shelves. The actual making of the movie is fascinating! With 24 frames per second in this stop-motion film, animators had to stop and postion each puppet 24 times in order to create a single second of filmed action! Sparky the dog was the most complicated puppet with more than 300 joints in his body. You can find other facts and trivia about the the film here.Available on Disney Blu-ray 3D and DVD, Frankenweenie is Tim Burton’s homage to the classic Frankenstein film from 1931 and a remake of his original short film from 1984. This black and white stop-motion animation is an offbeat yet heartwarming story about a boy and his dog. Heartbroken from losing his pet dog Sparky in a car accident, Victor uses a technique he learned in science class to bring him back to life. Creepy and funny at the same time, Frankenweenie gives new meaning to “getting a new leash on life”. The 4 disc Blu-Ray Combo Pack includes the following bonuses:

My kids ages 5, 4 and 2 really enjoyed this movie. The day after we watched it my two year old kept saying “I want FRANKENWEENIE”! It sounded so funny coming out of her mouth I had no idea what she was talking about for a few minutes! My other two keep begging to watch it again too. I don’t think my kids had ever seen a black and white film but they didn’t even mention it. A little creepy, this movie might be scary for some kids. Mine, however, love that sort of thing. Since we watched it while Daddy was at work we’ll probably be watching it again this weekend. Another great Disney movie to add to our collection!
