Today’s Tip from The Green Year: 365 Small Things You Can Do to Make a Big Difference: Have a yard sale.
You may not need the used baby clothes and romance novels that have been gathering dust in your garage, but someone else might. A yard sale will help keep gently used items from the landfill and allow you to make a few dollars in the process. You can up your ecological impact by donating the porceeds from the yard sale to your favorite green organization.
A yard sale is a good option for inexpensive household goods. Consider taking big-ticket items to a consignment store or auction house.
This week’s green Pinterest Pin is a button bowl. I thought it was a cute idea but I think it would look even better with silver or gold buttons. If you have a bunch of buttons sitting around, this could be a fun project for kids too! The directions say:
Glue buttons to a balloon. Let dry. Modge podge over the top. Let dry. Pop balloon. Button bowl.
The Pinterest link only linked to the image so I’m not sure exactly where this one came from.
