Today’s Tip from The Green Year: 365 Small Things You Can Do to Make a Big Difference: Pour leftover cooking grease in the aluminum ca instead of down the drain.
After it cools, the liquid grease that is poured down the drain will turn into solid and can stick to the inside of your pipes. Over time, the buildup will restrict the flow of water and may cause raw sewage to back up into your home or to overflow into streets and streams. In some cities, cooking grease that has been bored down the drain is clogging municipal sewers. Instead, pour the grease into a can and store it in the freezer. When the can is full, throw it in the garbage.
My favorite “green” Pinterest pin of the week comes for Real Simple — 66 all-natural cleaning solutions. I was especially interested in the ways you can use fresh lemon or lemon juice since that’s something I haven’t tried yet.
