Every year 14 billion pounds of trash are dumped in the ocean, and plastics account for up to 90% of all floating marine debris. Take a trash bag with you to contain food packaging and empty sunscreen bottles. Be sure not to leave any garbage behind; it could poison or choke marine life. While you are at the beach pick up any trash you come across.
