The book suggests asking a friend if she has a dress you can borrow to wear to a fancy holiday party. If that is not an option, try consignment stores. The bonus is that not only will you get a dress for a fraction of the price, you can consign it again when you are done with it!
Due to the nature of the events this type of clothing is worn to you should be able to find something in like new condition. That reminds me…I have a closet full of dresses I’ve only worn once or twice that I should take to the consignment store.
