Just because you decide to “go green” doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune or do it all at once!
Many people get overwhelmed by trying to make too many changes too quickly. Quite often you hear
about how expensive it is to eat organic and buy earth-friendly products. Going green isn’t only about
the purchases you make but more about the changes you make. Here are a few ways to go green on a
budget:
1 ) Air dry – By air drying dishes and laundry, you can slash your electric bill tremendously and
save tons of energy. This not only helps improve your budget, but the environment as well.
2 ) Turn Down the Thermostat – Turn down the temperature on your air conditioner, dishwasher
and water heater. You won’t notice a huge difference at home, but it will make a big one!
3 ) Use Your Own Shopping Bags – Whether shopping for clothes, groceries or making any other
purchases, use your own canvas bags instead of the stores plastic ones. This saves the amount of
CFC’s that are released into the atmosphere.
4 ) Save Water – When brushing teeth or taking a shower, if you aren’t using the water, turn it off!
5 ) Pay Bills On Line – This saves time, money on stamps and envelopes and trees.
6 ) Turn it Off – Keeping electronics plugged in sucks up energy, so unplug DVD players, video
game consoles and anything not in use.
7 ) Support Local Business – Buying local not only gets you the freshest foods, but saves you
money since the foods and products didn’t have to be transported across the state. This saves the
business owner money as well as the buyer.
No matter how green you decide to go, remember, doing something is better than doing nothing.
