If you haven’t tried Gramma in a Box yet, what are you waiting for? My girls and I highly recommend it. With this subscription service you get everything you need to make 2 candy crafts plus one cookie decorating kit for just $20. Considering the cost of the supplies to make these items plus the time it would take to gather them you are getting a great deal! Gramma Terry comes up with themed cookies and crafts each month with detailed instructions and bonus tips. This month was a spring theme and since my girls are practically pros now, they were completely independent with the projects and surprised me for Mother’s Day with the end results.
I love how organized the contents of each box always comes. It makes it really easy to follow the directions and know which ingredients belong with each project. The mini tubes of frosting are more than enough to decorate the included cookies — usually with at least 2 different shapes in multiple sizes. The extras like colored sugar and sprinkles are always fun and often unique items you probably wouldn’t find in your local grocery store.
The first craft this month used pretzels, melting chocolate and licorice string to make these adorable butterflies. Typically the melting chocolate is used in the first TWO projects so you’ll have to take that into consideration when creating your first craft to make sure you leave enough for the second craft.
The second craft was a bark with the melting chocolate, crispy cereal, and some fancy sprinkles. The girls added some broken pretzels to the top for their own special spin. This makes 6 pieces (2 are mysteriously not pictured!)
Last but not least, cookie decorating! This is where you can get really creative using whatever leftover ingredients you have plus the ingredients that came included just for the cookies. The frosting colors are always really pretty and the toppings are fun too. These were just a few of the cookies the girls decorated. Again, there are a few mysteriously missing….
