Having my third baby in about 3 years, I’ve had some experience with birth announcements. With the first two I used Costco.com. While easy and inexpensive, the designs were just so-so and I had to address and mail them myself. This time around I got the opportunity to try Hallmark.com for the birth announcement of my daughter. Since her gender was a surprise, I browsed the site for both boy and girl announcements before she was born. I loved the styles they had to offer.
All along I thought I was having a boy so when she was born and they said “It’s a girl!” I was surprised and happy to get to do the girlie-girl thing again. I absolutely LOVE the flower design I chose and think it fit perfectly with the photo. The cards at Hallmark are really easy to customize. I just had to pick the font, the color (if something other than the pre-selected one) and add the text I wanted. You can even edit the photo to black & white or sepia, crop it, zoom in etc. There was an option to add another photo and more text on the back but I left it blank. I loved that I could have Hallmark send my announcements directly to my friends and family. I easily added the addresses and had the majority of them sent out that way. The remainder I had sent to me. They arrived 3 days after I placed my order- not bad! Doing all of it online save me time and the mess of having the announcements spread out with my address book etc. My middle child gets into EVERYTHING and it’s hard to get anything done and this task would have been really drawn out of I had done it “manually”.
The cards were printed on heavy paper unlike the photo paper that the announcement for my first two babies came on. The return address was printed on all of the envelopes including the ones I had sent to my home (I think I selected this option) so that once I received updated addresses that were missing from my address book I could send them out myself.
I enjoyed creating my card and was impressed with the end result. Hallmark offers cards for every occasion and their service for sending cards directly to the recipient is great!
