This morning I hosted a HEXBUG Halloween party for my four year old son and some of his friends (and their siblings). We had such an awesome time! It was really fun to introduce these cool toys to the families that joined us. If you don’t know what a HEXBUG is, you’re missing out. Even the parents thought they were cool, and I certainly can’t disagree! These are HEXBUG Nanos:

HEXBUGS Nanos are little robotic bugs. The operate with a button battery and a small on/off switch. When they are turned on, their vibrations propel them around with life-like bug movement! We were lucky enough to get our hands on some of the Halloween Hex bugs which came in a coffin shaped box in orange or black rather than the usual test tube packaging. These holiday HEXBUGS featured a glow in the dark skeleton piece on their back. It clipped on and can be removed. In fact, it didn’t really stay put like it was supposed to so please be careful with small children. I know these aren’t meant for babies/toddlers but since so many babies/toddlers have older siblings, it’s best to be aware.
The habitats are really easy to put together because you can design the structure yourself. The pieces snap together and can be combined with other sets. Little pop up doors can be set to either let the bugs through or keep them out of an area depending on how you want it set up. The track on ours glows in the dark. The kids had a lot of fun turning out the light and watching the bugs buzz through their habitats in the dark.
The kids got along great while playing with the HEXBUGS set. Everyone had their own bug and there was enough room for all of the bugs together in the habitat. It’s funny watching the bugs bump into one another while trying to find their way through the track. Overall, the HEXBUGS were a huge hit with the kids as well as the parents. Personally, I think HEXBUGS would make a super cool stocking stuffer!

I prefer the Nano because they are kind of cute, unlike these gross looking bugs. As for the kids, I have a feeling that HEXBUGS in any shape or form will be at the top of kids’ wish lists this holiday season.
