, but am so grateful I have. These are some of the neatest little “creatures” I have ever encountered and seriously provides hours of entertainment for my children. When I first opened the package, I have to admit that I thought these looked so stupid. The second we turned them on though, I quickly changed my tune. These are so much fun that I loved to sit and watch my kids and their friends play. Ok, I admit I even will play with them. Check out the track that was built and those pesky bugs were trying to eat the food on my plate below that we made. Ants on a log anyone?
I was so surprised to see how these Hexbug Nanos really acted like real bugs! My son thinks it’s great to flip the bugs on their backs and it’s so great that they flip right back over. The Hexbug Nanos
also will find another route if an object is in their way. These little creatures are so tiny too. They are less than 1″ long (roughly the size of a quarter). So, it is not unthinkable for us to find them under our couch or in random areas. We thought it was funny to put them in our son’s pockets. He had no idea where the vibration was coming from. The Hexbug Nanos
run on a AG13 button cell battery which is included. A word of caution though is that it is easy for the Hexbug Nanos to lose their battery life fast if your kids are prone to leaving toys on. In order to save the batteries, they must make sure to turn them off when not in play.
Other than the batteries running down, the only other issue I see is that these cute little bugs can be fairly expensive. For a set of 5 Hexbug Nanos (which come in their own specimen test tubes), they are about $40 or $8 sold individually. There are many colors also. My favorite is pink, but you can also purchase red, blue, green, purple, yellow, black and more! Why stop there though? The Hexbug Nanos must have a place to play. There are also Nano habitats. The basic starter habitat is only $13 though, so once you have your set of Hexbug Nanos
, this is a very enjoyable toy for children (and adults ahem).
