*I received a complimentary Hisense Chromebook in exchange for my honest review.
I have kids in 3rd grade and first grade this year with my youngest starting elementary school next year. I know I probably shouldn’t be so surprised with how much work they have on computers but we weren’t prepared for it at home. I love that the schools are teaching with technology. My husband and I both use our laptops for work though and didn’t want the kids to use them. We thought their tablets would be enough. We were wrong. My son started keyboarding this year, a skill I think is VERY important. Part of his homework is practicing at home. He also has some math assignments which are fun games that help him learn and memorize his math facts but they don’t have an app and require flash so our tablets are useless. Luckily we found the perfect budget friendly solution — a Hisense Chrombook.
At first my husband and I discussed purchasing a desktop computer for the family. We couldn’t figure out a good place to put it and would have to purchase a desk. A laptop made more sense. For just $149, the Hisense Chromebook fit our needs perfectly. It weighs just 2.5 pounds and is only 19.5 mm thick. The display is 11.6″. We’ll be using this at home for now but it would also be great for on-the-go because it’s so light and small. It would easily fit in a backpack.
It’s ready to go right out of the box. In fact, the only thing in the box is the laptop itself and the charging cord. No set up is needed. You just log in to your Google account to get started. All of your documents, email, maps, photos and more are safely stored in the cloud and you can easily switch between accounts so you can share your Hisense Google Chromebook without anyone accessing your stuff.
It has an 8.5 hour battery life which is awesome. You wouldn’t even need to take the cord with you for the day if you were heading out. The Hisense Chromebook boots up in less than 10 seconds and features a high performance quad core Rockchip processor (Cortex A17).
I was a little worried about virus protection but it turns out, I didn’t need to worry at all. Auto-updates are built in including keeping the latest virus protection and features updated, hassle-free. I love this! It couldn’t be more perfect for our needs.
I set up a few browser tabs with all of my son’s websites he needs to do his homework including practicing math, reading and keyboarding. He knows the laptop is just for homework but he loves it so much he does a lot more than is assigned. He especially loves the math games he is now able to play at home!
The Hisense Chomebook is available on Walmart.com and in Walmart stores for a very reasonable price of $149. For more information visit, hisense-usa.com/chromebook. I highly recommend it!
