Cereal is a staple in our family. Not only do my kids eat it for breakfast several mornings per week, my husband has a bowl before bed if he’s hungry. We also eat it dry on occasion for a snack. Recently we tried something new — Honey Bunches of Oats Tropical Blends. The cereal is a combination of crispy mango flavored flakes and coconut flavored granola clusters with real coconut shavings — a real tropical delight!
My kids threw a fit when I poured myself a bowl. They wanted the whole box to themselves. At first bite I could see why — it’s delicious! I was really surprised how flavorful the cereal was. The Mango and coconut flavors go really well with each other. I wanted to close my eyes and imagine I was eating it in the sunshine of a tropical island but all I could hear was “Mommy! Don’t eat it all! I want a bite!!”
The cereal, while sweet, only contains 6g of sugar per serving compared to the 9g of sugar in a serving of honey nut cheerios. It also contains 10g of whole grains, 9 essential vitamins and minerals including 60% of the daily value of iron. Honey Bunches of Oats Tropical Blends is also heart healthy with 0 trans fat, 0.5 g saturated fat and 0 mg of cholesterol. This product is WIC eligible.
