My oldest daughter is obsessed with Boba. She always asks me to take her to get Boba Tea. She also loves making things at home so when I told her we could make our own she was super excited.
What is Boba, you might be wondering. Sometimes called Bubble Tea, this cold and frothy drink is made with a tea base shaken with flavors, sweeteners and/or milk with tapioca pearls at the bottom of the drink. The drink originate in Taiwan but is now popular all over the world
Mama Bear Boba sent me a variety kit to check out. It came with 6 different flavors of tea mix, 3 packets of rainbow boba, 3 packets of traditional black boba, and 6 fat boba straws.
The first step is to make the boba by boiling it in water. They are hard little balls before and squishy chewy balls afterwards! The rainbow boba take less time to cook than the black boba so make sure to follow the directions!
To make the tea, just add hot water to the powder and stir to dissolve. We actually did this first and put it in the fridge to cool while we made the boba but you can just add ice. We tried Strawberry and Peach.
Add your boba to the tea and pick a straw. These extra large boba straws allow you to “drink” the boba from the bottom of your glass. Just suck them right up!
And enjoy! McKinley and I had a lot of fun making Boba Tea together. It was a little bit of a process and not something you can whip up quickly but that made it even more special!
