I’ve decided to switch Mondays up a little and alternate Motivation Monday with Manicure Monday. I’ve taken a long break from nail painting but have decided I want to get back into it a little now that my kids have gotten a little older. Before I had babies, my nails were always painted. I sometimes painted them several times per week. After I had kids, I just didn’t have the time to keep up with it anymore! During my hiatus though, gel polish was invented which means manicures have the potential to last a lot longer and you can cut out the drying time by curing the polish under a light.
This week I did an Ombre French Manicure with a Matte Top Coat. I’m a little rusty but at least you can get the idea. I used these steps to get a long lasting manicure at home. For the base color I used Sinful Colors “Rise & Shine” For the tips I used Rimmel 60 seconds in 210 Mintilicious. I thought I could free hand the tips but unfortunately the brush and consistency of the polish I used was not ideal. It didn’t come out as good as I had hoped but I do like the color combo! Here’s a better picture of the color:
I used Mattify from Red Carpet manicure as the gel top coat to seal my polish to make it last as well as give it a matte finish. I was hoping for a more frosted matte but I still like the way this turned out aside from the imperfect french tips. This is something I’ll have to work on finding a better way of doing perhaps by using a different brush and thinning out the polish a little. What do you think? Would you wear this manicure?
