Children’s meals from restaurants aren’t all about the toys anymore. Chick-fil-A is continuing its long-time commitment to education and literacy by including children’s books in Kid’s Meals this year. The series begins with “Martha Speaks.”
About Martha Speaks
Based on the award–winning books by Susan Meddaugh, Martha Speaks premiered on PBS KIDS in 2008 with the underlying goal of increasing children’s oral vocabulary. The series stars Martha, a beloved family dog, who accidentally is fed alphabet soup that gives her the power of human speech and the chance tospeak her mind to anyone who will listen. How better to get kids excited about learning new words than with a dog who just can’t stop talking? Throughout the series, Martha teaches teach kids words like imaginative, splurge, experiment and more. Martha’s antics also continue online at PBSKIDS.org/martha, a comprehensive website that builds on the series’ curriculum to bolster the oral vocabulary of four- to seven-year-olds.
My kids loved the Best in Show book. I think it’s wonderful they are not filling the kid’s meals with junky toys and have concentrated on education. I love that Chick-fil-A also offers placemats and PURELL Sanitizing Hand Wipe packets for free at their locations. Kudos to Child-fil-A.
