Meet Ms. Wiggle Bottom. This girl can wiggle her way out of a diaper change like no other. Well…ok, let me take that back. It’s crazy how easily we forget. This is my third baby. My other two went through this very same phase. I think every baby does. Some days it makes you laugh, others it makes you want to cry. Just try to remember that they will grow out of it and grow up, most likely before you’re ready for them to. In the meantime, there’s new Huggies Little Movers Slip On Diapers. I haven’t tried these yet but I’m a loyal to the bone Huggies user so I have faith that they’ve made another great product. Instead of the usual tabs that have to be fastened at baby’s sides, Huggies Slip On Diapers are designed like a pull up so it can be slipped right on.
Here are some other tips for changing a wiggling baby:
- Hang a mobile over the changing table so baby has something to gaze up at.
- Place a mirror next to the changing area so you and baby can make silly faces at each other from a different perspective
- Keep a basket of toys next to the changing area. Designate these toys as changing toys so they seem new and fun or switch them out occasionally so baby doesn’t get bored.
- Keys! When you aren’t at home and desperate for baby to stay still, your car keys ALWAYS work. You can plan your retrieval method while you change your distracted (and unusually still) baby.
- Sing songs to your baby and make eye contact to engage them and keep them from wanting to roll off and play somewhere else. A favorite of my children is “Yankee Doodle” but I always replace “Yankee” with their name like “Jackson-Doodle” and “Parker-Doodle”.
- If it’s easier for you, forget the changing table. The floor is the perfect (and safe) spot for changing wiggly babies!
Ms. Wiggle Bottom is also known as Wiggle Monster because she likes to growl when we try to keep her from wiggling away. What are some of the silly names you call your wiggly baby? How do you manage diaper changes with your wiggly one? I’d love to hear your ideas! And if you’ve tried Little Movers Slip Ons, what did you think? Please leave a comment to share!
