My kids always love reading new books, especially ones they can relate to. My four year old son especially enjoyed Mitchell’s License by Hallie Durand and illustrated by Tony Fucile. The story is about a little boy named Mitchell who got his driver’s license when he was three years, nine months and 5 days old. It was a special driver’s license– for remote-control dads. Mitchell never ever wanted to go to bed until he could drive there. If your kids haven’t discovered yet, Dads are the best type of vehicle. Mitchell checks his car’s tires (dad’s feet), the engine (dad’s belly) and clean’s the cars windshield (dad’s glasses). At first Mitchell isn’t the best driver and crashes his car right into the wall. But Mitchell learns quickly to look both ways and beep the horn (dad’s nose). Mitchell, being the good car owner that he is, makes sure that his car has oil (sippy cup of water right into dad’s mouth) but when he tries to fuel up his car with cookies and the car says “no” the hazard lights go on and the car does an automatic u-turn taking Mitchell straight to bed. The car puts the driver to bed where Mitchell drives off to find the gas station of his dreams. We are giving away a copy of Mitchell’s License.
