Everyone can use a little extra motivation, especially on Monday, right? This new series is designed to motivate you in different areas of your life whether it be trying a new recipe, organizing an area of your home or testing out a new cleaning tip. I’ll be giving you my take on the assignment and hopefully inspire you to try it out yourself!
Today it’s all about the small things. If you’re like me, you probably have a bunch of little tasks around the house that you’ve been putting off. Make a quick list and see how many you can check off today. I had three things that had been bugging me for awhile. Here’s what I fixed:
The door leading to our garage, the home of our new batting cage, has a lever type handle. Apparently the springy door stopper thing (yes, that’s the technical term) stopped working and the kids keep flinging the door open and have damaged our wall. A quick trip to Home Depot, $3 and about 5 seconds and I not only “repaired” the wall but provided a solution to the problem!
The other day this picture fell off my bathroom wall. Somehow it left a pretty deep gouge. We already had some spackle in the garage so it was just a matter of getting it out. It literally takes just seconds to fill in a hole or gouge. While you’ve got it out, take a quick tour around the house and see if there is anything else you can patch up.
The last thing I didn’t take a picture of but our toilet seat was cracked in half on one side. While I was at Home Depot I picked one up for something like $5. They’re really easy to install and you can give your toilet a really good cleaning while it’s off (see my toilet cleaning trick in last week’s Motivation Monday!)
We are lucky enough to live only a couple of miles from Home Depot so including shopping time, these three tasks only took about an hour! I felt so accomplished that I was able to mark some DIY items off my list. Sometimes it just takes a plan and a small chunk of time to get things done.
What’s on YOUR list that you’ve been putting off? Be sure to check out all of the past Motivation Monday posts for more inspiration!
