We had such success with the Naked Nutrition Naked Mass supplement that we ended up ordering a couple more jugs of it and my son is pretty happy with the results! Naked Nutrition sent me a couple more products to try out and introduce you to as well!
The Lemon Blueberry Protein Powder is similar to to the Naked Mass in that it offers a lot of Protein however this one is not a weight gainer and therefore a lot lower calorie which is perfect for a busy mom like me! Unfortunately I didn’t care for the flavor in a shake. It got me thinking…How else could I use this powder to get more protein in my diet without having to DRINK it? What I came up with was a hit for the whole family!
I took a lemon scone recipe and used the protein powder in place of some of the flour. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if it would work and more importantly, if it would taste good. The first time around I only used one scoop of protein powder to complete one cup of flour. I’m far from an expert and I’m not that great at math so what I did was scoop one scoop of powder into a 1 Cup measuring cup and filled the rest of it with flour. It worked! They came out great and tasted pretty good too. Unfortunately, with those proportions, it only came out to 2.5 grams of protein per scone. My kids ate them up!
A few days later I decided to try again. This time I added 2 scoops of protein powder to complete each cup of flour. Again, I was a little worried how they’d taste but they came out great and the kids actually polished off this batch (a double!) even faster! They easily ate 2 at a time, so at 5 grams of protein per scone, they were getting a total of 10 grams of protein! Not a bad snack for my athletes!
I used this recipe, but I made regular sized scones instead of mini. The method I used was just to press out the ball of dough into a half inch thick circle. Then I used a pizza cutter and cut it like a pizza into 8 approximately equal sized pieces. This recipe was super quick and easy to make and we will definitely be making them again. They’d even make a good quick breakfast in my opinion!
