I love books that have a good message for my kids. The Berenstain Bears I Can Read books have just come out with two inspiring stories:
The Berenstain Bears Help the Homeless — Widow McBear wants
to open a homeless shelter, and invites the Good Deed Scouts – Brother, Sister, Cousin Fred, and Lizzie – to restore an abandoned house atop “Spook Hill.” While the young bears are eager to get to work, they begin to have reservations about the task, imagining ghosts, goblins, and monsters hiding out in the old house. But with a little courage, some good old-fashioned hard work and help from Old Tom, a homeless bear, the Good Deed Scouts rise to the occasion and realize the importance of helping those in need.
The Berenstain Bears Honey Hunt Helpers — For their latest good deed, the scouts team up with Papa Bear and set out on a hunt for Bear Country’s best wild honey. Determined to help Papa Bear win the local honey contest, the scouts find themselves following Papa through a series of hilarious obstacles -through hollow logs, muddy bogs, streams, a live bull field, and even outrunning a swarm of bees!
I Can Read! books have been around since 1957 and have won numerous prestigious awards. There are over 200 titles and five different beginning reading levels to encourage children to learn to read on their own by strengthening their reading skills. Two titles from 2009 featuring Princess Twins have been re-released with new artwork:
THE PRINCESS TWINS AND THE BIRTHDAY PARTY — Princess Twins Emma and Abby are ready to celebrate their birthday all dressed up in their fancy dresses and tiaras. When they realize that one of their party guests has left because she didn’t feel beautiful in her plain dress they go after her and teach her a quick lesson in true beauty.
THE PRINCESS TWINS AND THE TEA PARTY — Princess Emma wants nothing more than the perfect Spring Tea party but nothing seems to be going right! Will Princess Abby be able to convince her sister that sometimes is’ okay to make mistakes?
These faith based books are perfect for princesses everywhere. Both Level 1 books have simple, short sentences and familiar words to go along with the colorful illustrations. The books not only help teach reading skills, they show that problems can be solved with positive thinking and a little bit of faith.
