Philips Air Fryer: It’s Like Magic!
Almost 2 years ago we moved to a new house. One of the things I was most excited about was the kitchen and storage space. I’d finally have enough room for kitchen gadgets. I have a food processor, a Ninja blender, an [amazon_link id=”B00006F7C2″ target=”_blank” ]electric griddle[/amazon_link], a [amazon_link id=”B00EQT6EBU” target=”_blank” ]waffle iron[/amazon_link], a [amazon_link id=”B000LNVUJQ” target=”_blank” ]food dehydrator[/amazon_link], a [amazon_link id=”B006EAHDQ4″ target=”_blank” ]three pot crockpot[/amazon_link], a single [amazon_link id=”B001E5CWVU” target=”_blank” ]crockpot[/amazon_link], a [amazon_link id=”B0002KINSY” target=”_blank” ]George Foreman grill[/amazon_link], a [amazon_link id=”B001DZ8S5U” target=”_blank” ]yogurt maker[/amazon_link] and most recently a [amazon_link id=”B00H8OATGG” target=”_blank” ]Philips Air Fryer[/amazon_link]. A deep fat fryer had been on my wish list for quite awhile. I am so glad I didn’t get one because the air fryer is not only healthier but easier and cleaner to use. And believe it or not, foods come out crispy, just like they would in a deep fryer. Seriously, this thing is like magic. When my hubby saw the box sitting on the counter, he groaned “not another kitchen appliance!” He thinks we are running out of storage room (we’re not) and didn’t think I’d use it much. It didn’t take long for him to change his tune. The first thing I made was chicken strips. They came out really well and he was impressed. He couldn’t wait to see what else would work in the Air Fryer. I even overheard him telling a friend about our new Air Fryer. I’m telling you, this thing is amazing.
I used a basic recipe for the chicken strips. I mixed Panko bread crumbs, salt and pepper and a little bit of grated parmesan cheese for the coating then put it on a plate. Dip your raw chicken strips in flour, then dip it into a bowl of beaten eggs (2-3). Press each chicken strip into your coating on both sides and place in the fryer. I used the baking rack to add a second layer. You can put a little bit of oil into your coating but found that it didn’t make much difference leaving it out. I had to make a second batch of coating and forgot to add the oil and no one noticed the difference. You can use whatever you like for the coating. I’ve used crushed Doritos or crackers if I don’t have Panko on hand and both are equally yummy!
You don’t have to sacrifice the flavor of fried foods. You can get similar results with far less fat with the Philips Digital AirFryer! It’s the new and healthy way to fry, bake, grill and roast your favorite foods using 1/2 teaspoon of oil or less! You can even make french fries with 70% less fat than a deep fryer! The Airfryer features unique Rapid Air Technology that circulates hot air with speed and precision for faster cooking and perfect results. The AirFryer features a digital touch screen to adjust the temperature up to 390 degrees and a timer up to 60 minutes. The dishwasher safe parts make cleanup quick and easy! The unit comes with a double layer rack and a recipe booklet featuring more than 25 recipes created exclusively for the Philips Airfryer. It retails for around $300 and is worth. every. penny.
The Air Fryer cooks foods faster and doesn’t stink up the kitchen like frying with oil does. The only downfall I can find with the Air Fryer is it’s capacity. I wish I could cook larger batches in it. We have a family of 5 so with a lot of the foods we’re cooking, I have to make several batches. I had to make two batches of chicken strips to feed my family and while we might normally have fries with this meal, the time it would take to cook both in the Air Fryer wouldn’t be efficient. The good news is that since it does cook faster than other methods, making two batches doesn’t take any longer than it normally would and the results are far better. I had the opportunity to watch Master Chef Luca Manfe demonstrate the Air Fryer via live stream. He made a breakfast frittata. You basically just mix everything together, put it in the non-stick baking dish (sold separately) and pop it in the fryer 5 minutes. So easy!
Recipe: Breakfast frittata Ingredients:
- Philips Airfryer
- Philips Airfryer baking accessory
- 3 eggs
- ½ Italian sausage
- 4 cherry tomatoes (in half)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Chopped parsley
- Grano Padano cheese (or parmesan)
- Salt/Pepper

You can cook frozen foods in the Air Fryer too. Last night we tried frozen hashbrown patties (McDonald’s style) and they came out crispy, just the way I like them! I’m not putting the fryer away. It’s staying on the counter because I’m going to be using it often. That’s how much I love it. It’s worthy of prime counter space real estate!
