Every year for the 4th of July the kids (and sometimes the adults!) dress up like pirates for a parade on the little island of Guemes. My oldest daughter is especially excited for it this year because she got a new costume from buypiratecostumes.com. Can you believe there’s a whole website devoted to pirate costumes? I can! Pirates seem to be all the rage these days and what could be more fun that dressing up like a pirate?
McKinley loves her “girl pirate” costume because its a dress and has metallic accents. Mommy likes it because it also comes with “boot covers” which go over any pair of shoes making them look like matching boots. It also comes with a red metallic bandana and a sculpted broach to complete the outfit. The costume is really well made making it great for dress up. It’s not like one of those cheap halloween costumes you can only wear once. It’s also somewhat adjustable so it can be worn for through a small range of sizes. The design is perfect for a little girl because it isn’t too racy but still has some funk with the corset style skirt and shiny metallic accents.
