The game takes place in Ohm, where music is power. Up to 3 players take on the role of Rockers making and breaking alliances as rocker clans compete against one another. There are two modes of play. The first is similar to other guitar game standards. What sets Power Gig apart is the option to switch on chording, or chord play. It adds the challenge of using chords that require specific finger placement on the strings. Players who play in this mode may find that they come away with an understanding of real-life guitar fundamentals.
Power Gig: Rise of the SixString features a host of killer tracks from guitar powerhouse artists including Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews Band and Kid Rock along with songs from other major label artists and emerging talent form the indie scene.
For the ultimate music gaming experience, try Power Gig: Rise of the SixString. The bundle comes with the game and the guitar and retails for around $180. It is available in PS3 and XBox 360 game platforms.
Back when Mindy and I lived in the same town we’d get together with our hubbies and play Rock Band. We had so much fun! I’m sure playing Power Gig together would be even more fun. We’d feel like REAL rock stars with this awesome electric guitar! I think the really cool thing about this game is the chording feature. I think it would actually be a great parenting tool. If you had a child interested in playing guitar and were considering lessons but had concerns about whether your child would really like it or not, they could see what it’s like with this game. If it wasn’t really their thing, you’d still be left with a super cool and fun game that can be played with or without chording! Or you could just use game time for a reward for good behavior!
