Since our kids are finally getting old enough to where travel is a little less work we've been thinking about family vacations more and more. I love exploring the possibilities! Gulf County, Florida is a relaxing destination with lots of outdoor activities. The county is actually in two different time zones and with only two stoplights and spotty wi-fi, it's the perfect place to disconnect with technology and re-connect with nature to refresh yourself. You'll find gorgeous beaches, spectacular sunsets, fishing, boating, watersports and more to fill up your days.
When the day is done relax with a sunset boat trip or a leisurely walk on the beach. WIth the whole county to explore, you're sure to find lots to enjoy. I'm particularly interested in Wewahitchka. I'd love to visit Dead Lakes, "a hauntingly beautiful water-based graveyard of bottom heavy cypress skeletons, stumps and knees". They have a campground there that sounds like a lot of fun. You can take a kayak tour of the lake and the annual Tupelo Honey Festival is held in the area each May.This year will be the 24th year of celebrating the honey that is harvested there.
The whole area sounds so relaxing and refreshing — what a vacation should really be! It sounds like the perfect mix of relaxing on the beach and being active in the outdoors.
As a busy mom, while I do enjoy all of the activities, I'm really drawn to RELAXING. Beaches are one of the most relaxing places on earth. The sound of the surf, the salty breeze and the sheer beauty of a vast body of water and all your stresses just slip away. The westward facing location of the beaches in Gulf County, they claim themselves champion of sunsets. You can experience a one of a kind show of nature every night as the sun kisses the horizon while you breathe in the gulf breeze. Sounds pretty magical to me! I can just imagine the photograph I'd take of my kids building sand castles as the sun sets. Ahhh…
Gulf County wants you to embrace your true self because that's exactly who you can and should be when you visit! No need for makeup and fancy outfits when you're enjoying the natural beauty of Gulf County. To celebrate Gulf County is hosting the #GCFLnofilter contest.
