MusiColor is an interesting spin on coloring- literally! A special music player, which is fashioned after a record player, “reads” pre-printed paper discs that can be colored using the markers included with the set. Each colored marker represents a different musical note. When the pre-printed discs are colored appropriately (color by letter style), it plays a song. It can play “Three Blind Mice,” “Hickory Dickory Dock,” “London Bridge,” “Old McDonald,” “Jingle Bells,” Humpty Dumpty,” “I’m a Little Teapot” and more, or you can create your own using the create a song discs. Last night I colored the Humpty Dumpty disc. I forgot how fun coloring can be! I couldn’t wait to see what would happen when my finished product was played on the MusiColor player. There are three options on the player- piano, horn or violin. I chose violin. This is what I got:
To be honest, I was a little disappointed. The concept is cool but music wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I’m not sure what the beeping sound is but it happened on the demo disc that came with the player as well. Over all, I think kids will enjoy the MusiColor because it’s something new and different. They’ll be curious to figure out how it actually works!
