A couple of years ago we decided to disconnect our land line and use our cell phones exclusively. While it was a nice thought to eliminate one of our bills, it took some getting used too and isn’t entirely convenient. My husband always gives me a hard time because I never know where my cell phone is. I tend to leave it in my purse or coat pocket and I miss a lot of calls because I don’t hear it ring. I’m also really bad about charging it and when I go to make a phone call my battery is often too low and I have to ask to borrow my husband’s phone while mine is charging. Until Vtech contacted us, I had no idea that we had other options with Bluetooth technology. They sent us a complimentary phone system for our review and we discovered a whole new way to use our cell phones in our home.
Connecting via Bluetooth, we are able to use handsets that look like traditional land line phones. We are also able to access our cell phone directories right from the handsets which is great because I never memorize phone numbers anymore (technology sure has made me lazy!) and programming the numbers into a new phone would take forever.
The phone system we received has three handsets but only needs one phone jack. It is also expandable- up to 12 handsets can be used on a single jack (who needs that many phones?!) It includes a digital answering system with 14 minutes of recording time as well.
One of the things we were concerned about when we switched to cell phones only was having a phone at home for emergencies. To solve that problem, we have an old spare cell phone that we keep charging at all times on the kitchen counter that is part of our family plan. We let babysitters know where it is and keep emergency numbers near by. Now we can connect that phone to our handsets so it is more readily available. While we only use cellular phones, this Vtech cordless phone system is designed so that both land lines and cellular lines can be used together. What a brilliant idea!
