Unilever is launching “Rinse. Recycle. Reimagine.” a new program in partnership with Keep America Beautiful and the Ad Council designed to educate people about recycling in the bathroom, inspire them to reimagine what empty bathroom products could become through recycling, and ultimately make a small change that holds big potential to positively impact the environment.
Can you believe that Americans are more likely to go the distance to charge their phone, answer a phone call or get a drink when thirsty than walk an empty plastic bottle from the bathroom to the recycle bin? Nearly 29 million tons of plastics fill landfills each year and easily recyclable bathroom products are contributing as a result.
Another fun fact: Men are more likely to to recycle their empty bathroom product bottles than women and only 30% of women reported always recycling their empty bath and beauty bottles, compared to 37% of men.
The reasons for not recycling bathroom product bottles, whether lack of knowledge, misinformation, or confusion are excuses that are easily resolved. It’s time to take action with the Rinse. Recycle. Reimagine program.
