If there is one thing I don’t think I can live without, it’s internet service. I actually get a little anxious when service is down. I feel like I am going to miss something important! Every year we go camping on the Oregon coast. We don’t get cell service there, and internet is obviously out of the question. Sometimes I drive into town for my fix. Sometimes I hop on the back of our quad with my Hubs and he drives us out to the back side of the dunes where reception comes in a little better. There I can at least check my email on my iPhone.
When the power goes out at our house, I start to panic- I need the internet! Both of our parents were using dial up internet for the longest time because they lived in an area where broadband wasn’t available. I would have gone mad! My sister lives out in the boonies and still has dial-up! I don’t know how she can stand it! What she needs is Satellite Internet. With Satellite Internet, you don’t need to be near a phone or cable line. The data is transmitted via Satellite. Your computer is connected to a satellite modem which is then linked to a satellite dish mounted on the roof of your home. The dish sends and receives information over the internet and quickly delivers it to your computer. Satellite Internet has all of the same features of traditional phone and cable internet, but with benefits. Photos are received faster (.5 Mb is received in just 4 seconds) and songs for your MP3 player can be downloaded in less than a minute. The price is very comparable too!
I think it’s great that Satellite Internet is available. No one should have to go without internet service! Now, no matter where you live, you can get a connection. For some reason, that makes me breathe a little easier.
