I waited a long time to jump on the smartphone band wagon. I thought they were cool but since I was a stay at home mom I just thought I didn’t have much use for one. Boy was I wrong! I finally got an iPhone for Christmas and I don’t think I can ever go back. I use it for everything! Grocery shopping lists, reminder notes, calendar, calculator- those are just a few of the things I use on an almost daily basis. I even just downloaded a pregnancy app that tells me how big the baby is, daily and weekly facts and more. And to be perfectly honest, I even use my phone to get a couple of extra minutes of sleep in the morning. My two year old son is an early riser by nature. I’m not. On days when he wakes up extra early, I pull him into bed with us and let him watch a movie on my phone which I keep on my nightstand. Bad parenting? Eh…a mommy who gets the rest she needs is a little more patient than one who doesn’t- at least in our house!
I know as my kids get older (and we add the third child), juggling our family activities and schedules will be a full time job in itself- I am positive my life will be more organized with the help of my phone.
One of the reasons I waited so long to get an iPhone was because the only carrier is AT&T. My hubby was a faithful Verizon customer but the allure of iPhone finally pulled him away. Verizon has the best coverage- it’s a known fact! We are hoping that in the near future, Verizon will pick up the contract and we’ll be able to switch back.
Verizon does have comparable phones such as the Palm Pixie and Pre which both receive rave reviews from moms.
Disclosure: Verizon and JuiceBoxJungle sponsored me to write this post, and they asked me to talk about the ways my smart phone affects my life as a parent.
