SONIC is a longtime supporter of public school teachers with it’s Limeades for Learning initiative. In honor of Teacher Appreciation month, SONIC launched it’s #ThanksTeach social campaign to help recognize, celebrate and reward deserving teachers across the country. During this entire month SONIC has been sharing stories on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube about teachers that make a difference in the lives of their students and encouraging others to join in by sharing with the hashtag #ThanksTeach and using their Smile to Say #ThanksTeach Facebook camera filter. This augmented reality (AR) application springs to life when the user smiles into the camera on their mobile phone, creating a video or photo that can be easily shared.This is a fun way to recognize the teachers in your own community that are making our world a better place by teaching our children.
In addition to recognition SONIC has donated $1 million to public school teachers in markets from coast to coast.
“Everyone has a teacher who has done something – big or small – to impact their lives for the better, whether it was one of your teachers or the teacher of a child in your life,” said Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations for SONIC. “Teachers play such a critical role in developing our children, but spend nearly $500 a year out of their own pockets to buy the supplies they need to do their jobs effectively. That’s why we started Limeades for Learning® and why we’re saying #ThanksTeach by giving another $1 million to teachers for Teacher Appreciation Month.”
