There are few things grosser than a smelly kitchen sponge. Believe it or not, the kitchen sponge is the dirtiest item in most households – 200,000 times dirtier than your toilet. Ewww! And that horrible smell that doesn’t come off your hands? So gross. Still, I can’t give up using a kitchen sponge. I’ve tried. Dish clothes don’t do it for me and paper towels are way too wasteful. What if I told you that you could say goodbye to yucky kitchen sponges without actually having to give them up? SpongeBath resolves the stinky sponge problem! This new eco-friendly cleaning tool cleans, deodorizes sponges and preserves your sponge between uses to extend it’s life using a citric acid and silver ion solution.
Two slow dissolve tablets create an antimicrobial solution which is drawn directly into the sponge’s cells with it’s paddle-action system that holds the sponge squeezed until it is lowered into the solution. When you release the paddles it draws the solution into the sponge. Available in 3 colors, SpongeBath fits right into your kitchen. You can use the countertop base, suction cup sink installation or store it inside your cupboard door. It retails for around $30 for the red or black and $35 for the stainless steel version. It comes with a new sponge to get you started. A LED light reminds you when you’re due to replace the cartridge (once a month). A 3 pack of refills sells for $11.99.
I can’t stand smelly sponges and always worry about spreading germs around so I really love this new solution to an old and annoying problem. It really works! I have the stainless steel one and I like how it looks. It doesn’t take up much room on the counter but I like that I have other options for storing it as well. I can replace my sponges a lot less often and I don’t have to worry about nasty germs and smells!
