One of my favorite things about the holidays has always been stockings. As a kid I loved opening up my stocking on Christmas morning to discover all the little goodies inside. As a mom I really enjoy finding small, unique gifts to put in my kid’s stockings so they can experience that same joy.
One of the coolest things I’ve found this year is Sprout Pencils from Sprout World. These aren’t your ordinary pencil. You can plant them and they will grow into vegetables, flowers and herbs. Their latest product is a Plant a Tree pencil that turns into a spruce tree and completes the circle — trees become pencils which can then be grown into trees. The spruce is a beautiful tree that can be kept indoors as a decorative tree all year round. When it becomes taller you can plant it outside and use it for Christmas tree!
The Plant a Tree edition contains 5 graphite pencils, each printed with a message about the importance of planting trees. Other options are also available, all with 100% natural pencils made from sustainably harvested wood. The writing material of the pence is a mixture of non-toxic graphite and clay and the seed capsule at the end of the pencil is made from plant based material.
I like the colored pencil set which includes a variety of seeds — cherry tomato, forget me not, calendula, sunflower, cilantro, thyme, basil and sage. The names of the seeds are artfully etched into the pencil so you know which ones are which.
The Spread the Love Collection is also awesome. Each pencil has a love message engraved into it. These are perfect for sharing and brightening someone’s day!
Coloring books are also available to create a complete gift! The mindful coloring book has cute designs that are fun to color and features fun facts on the pages.
