Five years ago in December we bought a new house. I was determined to finally decorate for Christmas. Each year since, my plan was to purchase Christmas lights on clearance after the holidays. And every year I’ve waited too long and they’ve been sold out. Subconsciously I’ve probably been doing this on purpose. My husband does not like ladders or heights so stringing the lights would likely fall to me. The weather in December in Washington state is cold and rainy and it doesn’t sound like a very fun job to me. Luckily, this year we’ve discovered a fun and easy decorating solution! It doesn’t involve strings of tangled lights, getting on the roof or deflating giant characters. Instead, we get fun options that are basically plug & play!
If you have a window at the front of your house, the Star Shower Window Wonderland is a great decor option for the holidays. Set up takes just minutes. Install the plastic screen using the hook & loop sticky tabs provided, then set up the projector and plug it in.
This small projector was designed to look like an old school movie real. It comes with a base so you can set it on something but it is also tri-pod ready which I recommend as it’s easily adjusted this way. Just screw it onto your tripod stand and position it aimed at your window screen from the inside. It is easiest to set up at dark so you can see the projection clearly to place it where you want it. My favorite thing about this product is that it comes pre-loaded with different scenes including Halloween themes to extend it’s use! We like the one of santa waving but there are six Christmas scenes to choose from. Watch the video here to learn more.
For more holiday lights, the Star Shower Slide show is even easier to set up. It comes with 12 slides — 6 Christmas themed, 2 Halloween themed and 4 other holiday slides. Transform the entire front of your home with LED light images! Star Shower slideshow is safe for use in wet winter weather and covers up to 3200 square feet with colorful, LED light images of snowflakes, bows, trees and more—and can be adapted for indoor use as well. It comes with a stand base as well as a stake base. The trickiest part of this for us was deciding where to put it. The front of our house is almost entirely paved driveway. The only area we could use the stake was farther away then we liked for a good image so we put the stand base on and set it up closer to the house, partially under our travel trailer so we wouldn’t accidentally run it over. We selected the slide we wanted and inserted it. We aimed the unit at our garage door and chose NOT to have the rotating motion on. I’m really excited about this one because my daughter’s birthday is this month and I can easily change the slide out just for the day to the party themed slide! It’s so easy to set up it will be fun decorating for holidays rather than a burden. The only thing I’d change is that I wish it had a longer cord. We had an outlet we could use without an extension cord but the cord is so short, it didn’t give much wiggle room. For most cases though, you will need an extension cord anyway. Great idea and mess free!
I changed locations of my star shower and so now I need a replacement screen and have not been able to find anything. I used trash bags but that created a “seam” which isn’t as attractive.
