Today’s Tip from The Green Year: 365 Small Things You Can Do to Make a Big Difference: Store your files electronically.
Americans use over 90 million tons of paper — almost 700 pounds per person—per year. You can cut down the amount of paper you use storing your files electronically instead of printing important documents and storing them in a filing cabinet. Create folders on your computer to make it easy to find important documents with the click of a mouse.
My favorite “green” Pinterest post this week is to Grow your own green onions! The next time you have green onions, don’t throw away the white ends. Simply submerge them in a glass of water and place them in a sunny window. Your onions will begin to grow almost immediately and can be harvested almost indefinitely. Use kitchen scissors to cut what you need for meals. Periodically empty out the water, rinse the roots off and give them fresh water. Never buy green onions again!
