To be honest, I’m having one of those days. Right now I could bang out 10 things my kids WOULDN’T miss about me if I were abducted by aliens. Maybe this exercise will help me put things into perspective. This post is in honor of the March 11th release of “Mars Needs Moms”. The following are the top 10 things my kids would miss about me if I were abducted by aliens:
- Dinner Time Dance Parties- When I’m making dinner I turn on some music and my kids and I dance crazy in the kitchen. Sometimes it’s country, sometimes it’s rock and roll but we always love a good dance together!
- Kiss attacks- My kids love it when I kiss them all over, over and over again. They giggle until they can’t stand it.
- “Tackle” – Daddy started this one but Mommy gets in on the action too. My kids love to be tackled. We love floor time together whether it’s “dog pile on dad” or seeing how many times we can spin around before we fall down.
- Singing in the car- I hate it when my kids fall asleep in the car because it ruins their naps. We sing songs and play games together to try to keep everyone awake. The sillier the better!
- Piggy Back Rides- I stopped carrying my two year old when I was pregnant but I have discovered that Piggy back rides are a good way to get her from one place to another when I don’t have time for dawdling.
- Art projects- Daddy doesn’t have a creative bone in his body. The kids would definitely miss cutting, gluing, painting and creating new things with Mommy.
- Pictures and Video- I don’t even know if Daddy even knows how to use a camera or video recorder and my kids LOVE watching video clips of themselves. Documenting the history of our family is my job and my kids would certainly miss a lot of that if I disappeared to a distant planet.
- Storytime- This is just a reminder how much my children love to be read to. They love a good story from their Mommy!
- Desserts- I’m the sweet tooth of the family. I don’t do it very often but from time to time I like to indulge my children. Dessert first anyone?
- Monkey Hugs- My oldest likes to wrap himself around me for a hug. I dubbed it “Monkey Hug” and it stuck. He won’t go to bed without one.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to spend some time with my little ones because there are about a gazillion things I’d miss about THEM if I were abducted by aliens.
What would your kids miss about YOU?
