Walmart has challenged us to trim the budget this Thanksgiving and create a meal for under $50. Wow, did they come to the right spot because I am such a simple eater, that it doesn’t take much for me. I am a plain Jane that’s for sure.
So, here is how I did. (Photos taken in store to show you savings):
Pies $5/ea.
10 lb. Potatoes $2.97
Stuffing mix $2.50
Turkey 58 cents per lb so $8.26 for 14 lbs.
Marinade $3.97
Chicken Hen $5
Swanson Broth $1
Frozen Green Giant Corn $1/ea.
Frozen Green beans $1/ea.
Heinz Gravy $1/ea.
Great value plates $3.12 for 40 plates
Total: $41.82
I lucked out because I have a lot of the basics at home (such as flour) where I didn’t need to purchase them for this. Here is my menu:
Turkey & Gravy
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Corn
Green Beans
Chicken & Noodles
Pie
Rolls
I realized after getting home and typing this post, I had forgotten a few things. I didn’t get any rolls, cool whip and butter. The good thing is I am under the $50 budget and these items definitely are not going to make me go over!
I challenge you to come up with a Thanksgiving feast for under $50!
