Beyond cleanliness, the way a bathroom looks and its layout adds a sense of style and class. Unfortunately, it is difficult to re-do the look of your bathroom without completely remodeling the tub, sink or toilet. There are some easy and cheap ways to update your bathroom that will help create a fresh feeling for the rest of your abode in less than 24 hours.
Reduce Clutter
Do you leave piles of toothbrushes, combs, toothpaste tubes, medicine bottles and various other toiletries scattered all over your bathroom counter? One way to quickly and inexpensively make over your bathroom is to reduce the clutter. Put these items into decorative cups and shelves. Make it match withcolored organizational items to create a theme in your bathroom. Also, make use of your medicine cabinet. Store small bottles and other bathroom necessities you want easily accessible there.
Custom Window Shades
Most people dont think about having custom window blinds designed for their bathrooms, as they dont think it is a room people will see on a regular basis. But where is the first place a friend or family member visits after a long road trip to your home? The bathroom. There are a variety of colors and patterns to choose from that will diffuse light coming through the window or brighten up the space. A shade will often be the first thing people see when they enter the room. Like using a rug as the center piece in your living room, window treatments can tie the entire room together.
Creative Hanging
Utilize that empty wall and door space with hooks and bars for towels of various sizes. Dont go overboard too many places to hang items often leads to a lot of empty hooks and bars in the bathroom, which can make it look empty. Also, when putting up the hooks and bars, consider the space. You don’t want the towel too hang too low or high or get in the way of a counter or sink.
Cubby Holes and Shelves
Rather than hooks or bars on the wall, consider installing shelves or convenient and stylish floating cubby holes. These options will eliminate some of the clutter of items you use on a daily basis. They could sit nearby the toilet and hold free rolls of toilet paper or be a space for fresh towels that are easily available to grab. You can also use them to display bathroom decor. Both shelves and cubby holes are inexpensive and easy to install yourself.
Baskets
Baskets can be pushed into an otherwise inaccessible and wasted corner. They can be made from all types of materials, ranging from wicker to bamboo to metal, depending on the theme of your bathroom. You can pile toilet paper, towels or smaller toiletry items into these baskets for easy access, yet for guests just a nice piece to look at when they are in the bathroom.
