It’s baseball season and around here the weather runs the full gamut. Early in the season it’s cold, often rainy and sometimes windy. Later in the season it gets HOT. After several years of traveling with our baseball team we’ve figured out the best ways to stay comfortable. Camping gear comes in handy. This year we’ve added a couple of items from the Wenzel Tribute Collection that have proven quite useful!
One of our early tournaments it actually SNOWED. I kept warm with my portable Little Buddy heater, warm gloves, Starbucks and my new favorite blanket — the Wenzel Camp Quilt. There are several reasons I love this blanket. It’s really lightweight and comes in a drawstring pouch. You don’t have to fold it neatly — just stuff it in and pull the drawstring down. It’s fast to pack and easy to carry. It’s insulated for warmth and “puffy” for comfort so it’s nice to sit on too! It’s also quite affordable at just $19.95. I always pack this blanket.
My kid’s favorite “gear” addition is the Wenzel Shenanigan Tent. This Teepee style tent is super quick and easy to set up as long as you have a grassy area to put it. It took awhile before we could use this because our early season was so wet and rainy. The tent is water resistant but the way it rains around here I just didn’t want to risk it. The kids were dying to use it so I tried to set it up in my living room which was quite comical. The only way this tent works is if it’s staked down and of course my carpet wasn’t ideal. We did learn how to set it up though so we were prepared for when we could use it outside.
This tent is large and only uses one pole in the center of the tent to hold the “ceiling” up. The floor is stretched out and staked in the grass or dirt with metal stakes. It comes with plastic ones as well. I love this tent because it gives my girls a place to camp out during games and stay shaded from the sun. They can color and play or take a nap. If we have to move fields, this tent is the easiest one to pack up that I’ve ever used and only takes a few minutes to take down, roll up and put back inside it’s carrying case. The case is large enough that it doesn’t have to be exactly perfect to fit like some other tents I’ve used. My girls always request that I bring this tent and for as large as it is, it packs up compactly and doesn’t take up a lot of room. Again, this is an affordable item at just $119 for the 5 person tent. An 8 person version is also available for $159.
