There’s a special place in my heart for Winnie the Pooh. I grew up with my parents reading me the stories. I even had a Winnie the Pooh highchair. Now that I have three kids of my own, I love sharing these old friends with them. I know that I can count on fun stories with great messages. The latest, [amazon_link id=”B00H0KD438″ target=”_blank” ]Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo[/amazon_link] was no exception.
My six year old complained that he didn’t want to watch the movie. He’s growing up and has “older” interests now but as soon as I put it on for my girls, he snuggled up and watched it too. I knew he would. He still sleeps with his stuffed Eeyore! He may have preferred to watch a LEGO movie but I’m glad he could still enjoy this one with his sisters.
I’ve always been able to rely on Winnie the Pooh movies to hold my kid’s attention. They don’t sit through all movies, but these ones usually do the trick. I also love that I can count on them to be wholesome and have teachable lessons. Here’s the synopsis:
“Each year, Rabbit plays Easter Bunny, but this year, he’s decided it’s “Spring Cleaning Day,” and he orders everyone to hop to it: scrubbing, dusting, and mopping. All his pals are disappointed – especially little Roo – until Rabbit learns that putting others first and showing friends how much you care turns every day into a precious gift.”

I love how this movie helps show my children how to be good friends. It also opens up a dialog where we can talk about how we treat others. I can refer back to the movie too, when needed!
