My kids love yogurt. I buy it every week and I like that it’s a healthy snack that they enjoy. I never realized how easy it is to make at home. With the YoLife yogurt maker it only takes a couple of minutes of prep then you let it do it’s thing for 8-12 hours and viola! Fresh yogurt! It is beyond easy! The YoLife Yogurt Maker by Tribest Corporation comes with everything you need with the exception of milk. The kit includes the yogurt maker with tall and short lids plus 7 small glass jars with lids and a bottle of yogurt activator.
Yesterday morning I dissolved a bit of the activator in a couple tablespoons of milk according to the directions. Then I added it to 1 liter of milk (just over 4 cups). Then I poured it into the glass jars, stuck them in the yogurt maker (without lids) and put the short lid on the yogurt maker. You can use the tall lid if you are using your own containers that are too tall for the short lid. I turned the dial on the top of the yogurt maker to 8:00 so I’d know when to check it. I sort of wish this was an actual timer but I just set an alert on my phone instead so I wouldn’t forget. I ended up leaving the yogurt in for the full 12 hours because I like a thicker yogurt. I took the jars out of the yogurt maker, put the lids on and stuck them in the fridge overnight.
My kids had fresh yogurt this morning for breakfast and they loved it! I flavored it with some berry jam but you can add fresh fruit or get creative with other additives and toppings. It was a little but runnier than they are used to so I’m going to try something different with the next batch. I’ll either leave it in a little longer or try a different type of milk. I used 2% this time so maybe next time I’ll try whole milk.
