I brought back the 10 Minute Challenge for the New Year after a long hiatus. Just like I used to, I started giving myself 10 minute challenges. I set my timer for 10 minutes and tackle a household chore while my children are having a snack or lunch. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish in only 10 minutes when you focus on the task. The 10 minute challenge is a weekly feature on Mommies with Cents. Each week, I will show you one of the things I was able to accomplish in 10 minutes. I encourage you to join me- it really easy amazing what you are able to achieve, even if it’s incremental, if you set your mind (and timer!) to it!
This week I was supposed to finish up organizing my pantry however procrastinating got the best of me. I’m really dreading that last shelf and I know I should just do it but instead, something else caught my eye and it wasn’t pretty…..
Do you see what I see? A cobweb. And there were many. All over the house. I kept seeing them when the light would hit them just right and I’d think “I need to get the duster out and get those things down!” And as I usual, I’m distracted by other things (or little people) that need taking care of. This week I couldn’t take it anymore. I wanted those cobwebs GONE so I made it my 10 minute challenge. The whole house was done well under 10 minutes. It’s one of those things that makes you wonder why you didn’t just stop and take care of it a long time ago. Like the pantry. I swear I’m going to finish the pantry this week!
I’d love to hear ways you manage your time at home with kids. Please share your tips with me and our other readers by leaving a comment, then come back next week for another 10 minute challenge!
Be sure to check out all of our other 10 minute challenge posts for inspiration!

I don’t have little kids at home anymore, but I have a husband who was injured this last spring with traumatic brain wounds. He’s full time care, so I know how difficult it is to get tasks done. I can’t really carve out big chunks of time to clean or organize, but those 10-15 minute tasks really do make a difference, and yet, I procrastinate. I find myself taking those free minutes as me time, when, in reality, if the tasks are finished, I feel so much better!
Today I shall follow you and clean out these horrible cobwebs!

Raye! I knew I wasn’t alone! It’s so much easier to procrastinate or find little more fun things to spend a few minutes but I completely agree — I feel so much better when I tackle a job and feel a sense of accomplishment when it’s completed! I hope you’ll follow me each week and we can mark some things off our list together!
