The 16th Annual National Women’s Health Week starts on Monday. Will you join women across the country who are challenging themselves to be healthy at every age? Take the pledge to take at least one step for better health. Here are 7 things you can do during National Women’s Health Week to better your well-being:
- Take part in National Women’s Checkup Day Monday, May 11, 2015. This is a day when the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health encourages women to schedule their annual well-woman visit. At this checkup you’ll discuss your family history, family planning and personal habits and receive or schedule screenings. Due to the Affordable Care Act, it’s considered a preventative service and must be covered by most health plans free of charge. #CheckupDay
- Commit to drink more water. Staying hydrated is a key factor for good health! If you don’t care for plain water, try flavoring it with Lemon essential oil! Aim to drink 8 glasses per day.
- Eliminate chemical cleaners. Goodness knows women do most of the cleaning around the house! Don’t expose yourself to toxic chemicals! is my favorite natural cleaner. I use it for almost everything and it smells great!
- Eat Healthy. This is a hard one for me but making sure your fridge is stocked with plenty of fruits, vegetables and other healthy items you actual like is the key to success. Also, make sure you don’t do your shopping on an empty stomach! My favorite way to eat healthy is to start the day with a green smoothie!
- Get at Least 30 Minutes of Exercise a Day. This really isn’t as hard as it sounds. It doesn’t even have to be all at once! Walk to get your kids from the bus stop. Do some sit-ups during a commercial. Play Just Dance on the Xbox or have an impromptu dance party in the kitchen while you’re making dinner. It’s pretty easy to sneak in some exercise (and fun!) Bonus: Did you know that at least 30 minutes of brisk walking a day is enough to reduce your risk of breast cancer?
- Don’t neglect your oral health! This is an important one! A healthy mouth is the key to a healthy body! A small change like switching to a Colgate Total regimen with Colgate Total’s New Gum Health Mouthwash can provide advanced gum protection for 45% stronger, healthier gums.
- Get 8 hours of sleep per night. Getting on a regular routine can be extremely beneficial. Starting a bedtime ritual like diffusing can help you relax and drift off to sleep quicker to ensure you are getting a restful night’s sleep!
Using Colgate Total Advanced Whitening Toothpaste improves mouth health by fighting dental plaque bacteria, strengthening teeth, and helping reverse gingivitis. In just 24 hours it starts to fortify tooth enamel! Use it in conjunction with Colgate Total Gum Health Mouthwash to kill 99% of germs on contact and fight plaque along the gum line. It offers 12 hour protection against bacteria that cause gingivitis and freshens breath in the process!
