Nursing in public can be a very unnerving experience- especially as a new mom. I know from my own experience how uncomfortable it can be. I’ve nursed in fitting rooms, the car, wherever I could get some semblance of privacy. Over time I have grown more comfortable with it. There are a number of things I do to stay discreet. When I am out and about and there isn’t a women’s lounge available, I find a bench to sit on. I park the stroller horizontally in front of me so that I am sitting behind it. I also use a nursing cover. Nursing covers are great. Since they are designed specifically for breastfeeding, you don’t have to worry about them falling down and exposing you as you might with a blanket. They also free up a hand which is great in the early days when it is harder to get the baby to latch.
