Child King is a non-profit foundation that provides grants to individuals and organizations that assist those with intellectual disabilities. The foundation is funded by the sales of DVD with the same name.
Jeff Kerr, a Boston based federal agent and father is the founder of the foundation who was inspired by a chance encounter with a boy with Down Syndrome. His mission is to help children improve any preconceived notions they might have about children with intellectual disabilities and teach them the importance of following their dreams.
The Child King, an inspirational holiday-themed movie is about a teenager with Down Syndrome who takes his younger brother on a life-changing adventure to find Santa at the North Pole. This movie is a great way to entertain children while teaching them valuable lessons about life and giving back at the same time!
Another really cool thing about this DVD is the soundtrack performed by popular recording artists such as Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, Jessica Simpson, Randy Travis, Brian Setzer, Aaron Neville and Vince Gill.
The movie is available for $19.95 at www.thechildking.com. All profits from the sale of the DVD are donated to the foundation as well as 100% of merchandise sales.

I am a former missionary to Mexico. I plan to donate three large boxes of toiletries, etc, to our former church pastor and his wife. By the way, I would love to have a copy of this movie. I have an 11 year old daughter. I think she could get a lot from it.

I realy enjoy the Holiday Season it’s a wonderful time to donate and give to others that are less fortunate. My family likes to donate can food and make food baskets to families at my sons school who don’t have much this holiday season.

We always give to Toys For Tots, among other charities. We’ve had a rough year financially so I understand worrying about getting your kids the “little extras” in a whole new way.

We enjoy volunteering in the homeless shelter and giving away part of our “stockpile” to those who are in need.

We try to give back by taking extra donations to charity. Last year, we cleaned house and took about 2 cars full of stuff to goodwill. I’m not sure what we’re doing this year since we won’t be around for Christmas, but I’m sure we’ll think of something even when we’re visiting family.
We give to the Women and Childrens shelter here in our city. I have the kids go threw their toys and pick a certain # of toys and I save clothes all year. We’ve also done the angel tree and toys for tots.
Thanks for the chance to win this great movie 🙂

This sounds like a wonderful movie. Thank you for offering it. 🙂
Since my nephew was 2 years old we have taken him to adopt a child from the Angel Tree. He always buys for a child his age.
For the last two years he has led a “donation drive” to put together baskets for needy elderly in our community. He contacted the DHR himself and set it up. 🙂
We try to find a family who needs help providing gifts and food for their family and children and do a Secret Santa. It has been so fun!
We’re adopting a family from the women’s safehouse for Christmas. I am also a service projects coordinator for my Moms Club so I’m arranging for the club to adopt 2 more families, also to send shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child, and we’re adopting a family for Thanksgiving.
We love this time of year and see it as a great teachable moment in selflessness for our kids.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I will be helping out at a Christmas Store that our church sponsors for families in the community. We collect toys for the families and they get 3-4 toys per child and some food as well.
Our family does Operation Christmas Shoebox. The kids really like this.

Over the years we have done many things, from making gift boxes full of Christmas items for children in refugee camps to ringing bells for the Salvation Army kettle, to sending care packages to our troops overseas. This year I am planning on taking photographs for moms at the local pregnancy crisis center (either of their other children, their new babies, or even of their tummies for Christmas cards…whatever they want). We have already donated the kids’ coats from last year to a local free coat closet. There are SO many things out there to donate our time to that there really is no excuse NOT to help out when we can…and to MAKE time to do it! Thank you for the chance to win this movie…I have a cousin with downs, a cousin who is delayed b/c of a head injury in grade school, and 2 cousins with children with autism so this really touches close to home 🙂
My 4-year-old son and I have a special grocery shopping trip where we pick up food for the food pantry. I explain to him how other children don’t have food to eat when they are hungry like we do.
I would love to have this DVD for my three kids. I am sure they would learn alot from it.
Again, I would so love to be picked. Please see where I blogged about it here & contact me at my email [email protected]…
Thanks for the chance!
I donate to toys for tots. Not huge I know, but I try to do something to make a difference. We also sponsor a family at work.

blogged about it. My email address is in my profile
I collect toys during the year to give to Toys for Tots at Christmas. I also try to make at least one drop at the food pantry. Thanks for the giveaway!
I like to do the Angel Tree at church.
We use all of the items we purchased for free from cvs and walgreens and all the freebies/samples we request to make gift boxes that we donate to the local shelter.

we do the christmas child boxes at church and we also adopt a family or two. Our WHOLE family used to do this and on christmas eve we’d go and give the families all of their stuff. Now our family adopts1-2 families depending on the amount of kids in the family!
After reading some of the comments others have left, they probably deserve a free copy more than I do. We have 3 kids, so we are doing 3 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child this year, and we try to hear of specific needs at Thanksgiving and Christmas and try to meet those needs anoonymously. If we do win the DVD, I know my kids would love to see it, and then we would give it away to another family and ask them to do the same once they have viewd it.

We enjoy adopting an older single adult for the holidays. It’s like having a grandparent during this season.
We are part of the Angel Tree. We not only buy gifts, but our church hosts a party for the families. We are able to love on the families and share the true Christmas message.

This year our family is adopting a family from our church that is unable to have a Christmas and we are providing an entire Christmas including Christmas dinner and gifts for the family. Since I have been checking out these blogs about getting groceries for almost nothing I am able to do this. My kids are so excited, they are getting involved and love wrapping the gifts and buying things.

WE adopt an angel from the angel tree, or do a sub for santa. This year I’m going to give my used van to my sister, who desperately needs a car. I would love this movie.
We always donate a huge bag full of toys and games to our local children’s hospital… they saved our preemie daughter’s life… it’s the least we can do!

Our Sun School class buys Christmas gifts for a needy family. My kids enjoy helping pick out the gifts.

Not sure how to answer this one, as I don’t search out specific type things to do during the Christmas season. Instead we donate to our local food bank, share outgrown clothes, help organize collections for needy families throughout the year whenever we have extra or someone crosses our path.
Thanks for the giveaway. Sounds like a good movie.

Well, I don’t have much in the way of cash to give this Christmas but I can give the gift of myself and my time to help my family, the students at the Christian school where I teach, and members from my church that are in the same boat that I am.
