Goosebumps 2 will be available on Digital via the Movies Anywhere app December 25th and Blu-ray & DVD January 15th. In honor of the new release, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Haribo sent my family a box of themed goodies for movie related projects to get us pumped up for a viewing party. We are having so much fun with it! For a little background, here’s the synopsis of the movie:
Be careful what you wish for. With their after school junk business, best friends Sonny and Sam hope to find treasure in other people’s trash. But when cleaning out the old Stine house, they open a locked book that frees a supernatural nightmare- Slappy! Now, with the help of Sonny’s sister Sarah, they’re in a race against time to get the sinister dummy and all the creatures he’s brought to life back into the pages before he unleashes total pandemonium!
The movie is based on the best selling book series by R.L. Stine. It stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Chris Parnell and Ken Jong. We watched the trailer to get an idea of what the movie was about. Our kit included a TON of Haribo Gummy Bears (our favorite) and we found out why! In the movie, gummy bears come to life as evil little beings! The gummy bears included in our kit were not just for eating out of the package although there was plenty to do just that! Science experiments and special treat recipes were included with our kit and we were all eager to test them out!
We started with the Gummy Bear Holiday “Mocktails”. These were really cute and fun — you can create them at home too with the recipe above. My kids had fun stringing the gummy bears onto a skewer as festive swizzle sticks for their fancy drink:
We think our drinks came out really cute and tasty too! We used festive straws and sugar coated the rim of the glass too to make them even fancier. My kids thought this was awesome! These Mocktails would be perfect for Goosebumps viewing party and a fun little project to do over Christmas break!
Next we made Holiday Gummy Bear Bark. This is another fun and easy project for kids. The chocolate is melted in the microwave then spread onto parchment paper and sprinkled with gummy bears and holiday sprinkles.
My slime obsessed daughter is really looking forward to trying this slime recipe that uses gummy bears! This should be a really fun science experiment in melting solids into a liquid form! These were just a few of the projects that came in our box and we had a blast with them!
Look for the digital release starting on Christmas and be sure to check back here to Mommies with Cents sometime before January 15th because I’ll be giving away a copy of the DVD! We can’t wait to check out the bonus features that include a Gag Reel (our favorite!), Three Deleted Scenes, Five Featurettes and 3 “Slappy-oke” Sing Alongs!
Cheers to Goosebumps 2!
